How long does it take to learn a language?

Getting familiar with a new language comes with a lot of benefits. Increased career opportunities, a sharper memory and improved levels of multitasking are all advantages of learning a new language. You may be motivated to begin learning, but, one question lingers in your mind – “how long does it take to learn a language?”

First of all, the rate at which one becomes fluent in a language depends on a number of factors (we will list a couple as we go on). But, in general terms, there are estimated durations in which a new language could be learned. In most cases, it takes between 3-6 months to get a hold of a new language. The learning process may come easier if the new language you are trying to study is somewhat similar to one you are already fluent in.
